The licence of an Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation-linked kitchen in the city was also suspended after inspectors found live cockroaches in the food storage and processing areas. They also found that food was being prepared near open garbage, the newspaper reported.
The action came amid a statewide drive by the administration against eateries and other establishments for alleged violations of food safety norms.
The inspection at ISKCON’s Hare Krishna Land in Juhu was conducted on September 3. The inspectors found that the storage areas had rodent droppings and the drains were clogged with food waste.
At the main food establishment at the centre, the FDA found poor raw material checks, improper storage, pest infestation and inadequate cleaning and drainage, The Indian Express reported.
It also flagged that records for water testing, employee medical checks, vaccination, training and audits were missing.
